Gold Derby: Executive Editor, Awards
Gold Derby, the pre-eminent source of awards news and predictions, is hiring an Executive Editor, Awards to be based in Los Angeles. We are seeking a seasoned editor who has at least 10 years of experience covering awards, entertainment, film and television. The executive editor serves as the right-hand of the editor-in-chief, helping execute the editorial strategy and standards of Gold Derby as follows:
Responsibilities:
• Overseeing content: Review and top-edit content in all forms (stories, galleries, videos) for clarity, tone, and accuracy; ensure SEO guidelines are met and maintained.
• Setting editorial standards: Develop and update GD's style guide as needed, to ensure all content meets our guidelines.
• Managing the editorial team: Guide the team of 6-8 writers and reporters; maintain and execute schedule of assignments; provide feedback; work with freelance writers as needed.
• Liaising with internal partners: Partner with ad sales on business opportunities; work with finance to maintain budget; work closely with creative team on website development.
• Representing Gold Derby: Attend events, screenings, etc. on behalf of GD; build and maintain relationships with external partners, including studios, networks, publicists, agents, and executives.
Qualifications:
• Candidates must be based in Los Angeles and be willing to work 4 days out of our Los Angeles office.
• 10+ years editorial experience
• Deep knowledge of SEO best practices
• Proficiency in WordPress and Photoshop
• Excellent editing and writing skills
• Extensive relationships throughout the entertainment industry
• Collaborative working style
• Ability to use data and analytics to make key business decisions
As PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Typical wage range: $120k - $130k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
