Role Overview:
We're looking for a Lead Cinematic Artist to join our team at Firesprite, to construct high quality in-game cinematic sequences on a story-driven 'Narrative Adventure' with genre defining goals.
This is an ambitious, AAA project with a heavy focus on atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and immersion into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.
Our ideal candidate is a Lead Cinematic Artist with a track record of crafting and delivering high quality camera work in cinematics and cutscenes. Working closely with the Cinematography Director and the team members to develop the cinematics from previs to final production.
As a Lead you will train and help your team members and provide solutions to problems appearing in the cinematic pipeline and workflow.
Ideally, we would love individuals to be based in the studio for 1-3 days per week, but we may consider those who have a preference for remote working in the UK.
What you'll be doing:
• You will lead, mentor and manage a team of cinematic artists to produce high-quality in-game cinematics that align with the tone and vision of the game.
• Work with and manage outsource partners to help deliver and maintain the quality and vision of the game.
• Work closely with the Director of Cinematography, Cinematic Director and other team members to help define and develop the cinematic camera work in the game.
• Help to establish and drive the pipelines, processes and methodologies across the cinematic teams.
• Plan and prioritise tasks to ensure that deliverables are completed on time and to desired quality.
• Collaborating with the other team members and departments to resolve any technical challenges and push project quality.
• Supervise members of the team and coach them to success through reviews and mentorship.
What we're looking for:
• An experienced Lead Cinematic Artist.
• A portfolio that showcases examples of visual storytelling and cinematography skills, focusing on: Framing, shot selection, scene composition, camera animation, and editing.
• A great working knowledge of Unreal engine 5 sequencer, MotionBuilder, Maya or other equivalent 3D programs.
• A great understanding of cinematic storytelling principles, cinematic language, literacy and visual storytelling theory in an interactive medium.
• Excellent framing and animation skills for cinematic cameras.
• A deep understanding of the latest cinematic pipelines and workflows.
• An outstanding team collaborator and someone who can take the initiative in problem solving for the cinematics team.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Desirable skills:
• Experience with Adobe Premiere or other similar video editing software.
• Experience of Unreal 5 blueprints and other Unreal tools.
• Experience with lighting.
• Experience with editing.
