Job Summary
The Manager, Finance and Accounting is responsible for financial planning, analysis, projections, reporting and treasury management for the Pittsburgh Pirates and all consolidated entities. This position will be responsible for calculating and communicating the financial impact of scenarios as part of the organization-wide strategic planning process as well as working with stakeholders at the executive and departmental levels around managing their budgets, financial projections, and working with them on other financial analyses. This role will also oversee Treasury Management and contribute to other finance and accounting related projects as necessary.

Responsibilities
• Maintain a current year income statement and cash flow forecast based on current and past financial data and collaboration from other departments. Communicate any deviations from budget to the Controller and/or CFO in a regularly cadenced forecast report.
• Lead in organizational cash management working with colleagues in the Finance department as well as external groups including bankers and Major League Baseball central office to understand inflows and outflows and maintain an appropriate cash balance.
• Analyze balance sheet changes monthly and prepare a monthly cash flow statement with written summary of prior month activity and upcoming significant cash inflows and outflows.
• Assist in preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts. Work with business departments to compile complete and accurate submissions. Analyze and provide commentary on significant changes from prior year or throughout the year.
• Partner with departments to analyze their expenses monthly and project out future spending to ensure all areas stay within budget.
• Lead in development of financial reports to organize data into a cohesive analysis for presentation to Executive Leadership, Departmental Leaders, and Major League Baseball
• Perform ROI calculations on various projects, including but not limited to capital expenditures, cost of goods sold, staffing and labor, and other strategic projects.
• Assist in the development of business cases to evaluate potential strategic opportunities.
• Prepare various reports for Major League Baseball including ticket sales reports and annual financial information questionnaire.
• Produce and maintain multiple financial scenarios factoring in different seasonal variables and communicate results and working with Strategy to integrate strategic initiative forecasts into the long-term strategic planning model.
• Posting journal entries to assist in maintaining accurate books and records as needed.
• Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Perform other assigned projects as requested by the Controller or CFO.

Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience in accounting or another financial field.
• Advanced Excel proficiency with understanding of and ability to use Lookups, Pivot Tables, and Macros.
• Advanced PowerPoint skills with ability to create professional presentations in a timely manner.

Desired:
• Experience with a Microsoft Accounting Product.
• Ability to work in a team environment and ability to communicate effectively with other team members and company leadership in both written and verbal form.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferably in the field of sports, media and entertainment.
• Experience in reviewing and/or preparing financial statements.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to apply analytical skills across multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail and passion for accurate, high-quality work, and problem-solving skills.
