Sasquatch Books is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented Publishing Associate to provide cross-departmental support to our Editorial and Marketing teams, along with general administrative support in our Seattle office.
The Publishing Associate is a consummate team player who is both detail- and process-oriented and can juggle a variety of work in an organized and clear manner for a busy small publishing team. You will provide editorial, marketing, and office support for our team, while gaining practical publishing skills and knowledge to build your publishing career.
The Role:
• Managing agendas and recording minutes for weekly editorial, design, and acquisition meetings
• Managing metadata content, image uploads and change process
• Support new title set-up process in internal systems
• Manage book mailings for editorial and marketing teams
• Research comparative titles and other necessary acquisition data as requested
• Support editorial production with proofreading, back-up checks and other editorial administrative tasks
• Manage copyright filing and file upload
• Assist Marketing team in creation of collateral material such as postcards and social media images
• Marketing research and admin support as needed
The Essentials:
• A self-starter able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• An excellent written and verbal communicator with keen attention to detail
• Ability to work and learn independently as well as part of a team
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Possesses a proactive and independent approach to problem-solving
• Curious mindset and enthusiasm for learning new systems and processes
• Familiar with Mac computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
*This is a hybrid role with in-office responsibilities, which include but are not limited to book mailings and maintaining office archives and supplies. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our office in downtown Seattle.
