Publicist, DK (Hybrid)

The DK publicity department is currently seeking a Publicist with a focus on Children's and Licensing titles to join the DK US team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a global publisher of Adult Non-Fiction, Life, Travel, Knowledge, Children's, and Licensing titles. The growing list of Children's titles includes picture books, chapter books, middle grade and graphic novels and the robust Licensing publishing program includes Rebel Girls, Lego, Disney, Minecraft, Marvel, and Star Wars.

The ideal candidate will have experience strategizing on and executing PR campaigns for Children's and Licensing titles, an established network of national broadcast, print, and online media contacts, and excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position will report to the Director of Publicity of DK US Additional opportunities may include campaign work on non-fiction adult titles including influencer led titles under DK's Alpha imprint.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, we will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA). 

Responsibilities:
• Plans and executes publicity campaigns for multiple authors, creators, and brands.
• Provides high-touch author care and attentive communication with authors, agents, and internal publishing team.
• Develops, researches, and maintains strong relationships with national, online, podcast, and local media contacts.
• Writes creative and impactful press materials and pitches.
• Collaborates on campaigns with DK US and DK UK Children's and Library Marketing, Publicity and Editorial colleagues. 
• Attends Children's, Library, and Licensing conventions.
• Preps authors for media interviews and events.

Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in book publicity
• Strong verbal and written communication and pitching skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Existing relationships with national and regional media contacts, notably in the Children's space
• Must be able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while also responding to urgent issues
• Experience and comfort presenting in front of groups including internal meetings
• A motivated self-starter, strategic thinker, and team player
• Proficiency with Muck Rack, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite 

The salary for this position is $63,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
