Job Description

Associate Project Manager, Creative & Advertising, Random House Publishing Group (Open to Remote)

In 1925, Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer, two New Yorkers in their mid-twenties, acquired The Modern Library, a stable of classics and contemporary American works. Two years later, the company assumed Random House when Cerf and Klopfer decided to publish a few books on the side, ''at random.''

Today Random House is the proud publishing home of the world's most acclaimed storytellers, thought leaders, and innovators. The Random House portfolio of imprints includes Ballantine Books, Bantam, Delacorte Press, Dell, Del Rey, Random House Worlds, Modern Library, One World, Hogarth, Convergent, The Dial Press, Harmony, Rodale, and, of course, the flagship imprint Random House (among many others!). Publishing original fiction and nonfiction across imprints in all formats, Random House aims to connect with a broad and diverse readership, continuing our mission to entertain, educate, and inspire readers everywhere.

We seek a highly organized, self-starter with excellent communication skills to manage projects from conception through completion in partnership with the Art, Marketing, Accounts Payable, and Advertising teams. As a part of the Creative and Advertising Operations team, the Associate Project Manager will manage projects associated with marketing activities and creative assets including scheduling of resources, day-to-day project tracking, and processing invoices of marketing activities for payment, including coordinating with Accounts Payable and the marketing department.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented; able to adapt to, fine-tune, and troubleshoot (new) systems; and perfect for someone who can take initiative with a discerning eye towards process and efficiency.

Please apply using our ATS system by September 12, 2024, and include your resume and cover letter for consideration. Before applying for any role at Penguin Random House we recommend you review our applicant resources page and look over our open to remote guidelines on our FAQs page.

The Role:
• Plan, schedule, and track project timelines in Workfront, our project management system, monitoring each project's status through to completion
• Maintain and update schedule of assigned projects and deliverables in collaboration with designers and imprint marketing teams, delivering list for review in regularly scheduled updates on a weekly basis with various teams
• Evaluate marketing design team workload periodically to ensure workload flows smoothly and reassign projects as needed to keep designer bandwidth equitable
• Where necessary, pursue missing information/components from stakeholders for incoming projects to help shepherd project workflows along
• Create, manage, and execute purchase orders in SAP for marketing and advertising campaigns across the Random House Publishing Group
• Approve and code invoices and liaise between Accounts Payable and the marketing department to ensure prompt payment and accurate internal finance tracking/budgeting

The Essentials:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management or billing, ideally in the publishing, advertising, or media industries
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Advertising, Accounting, Communications or a related field
• Ability to multitask and efficiently respond to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously, remaining solution-oriented amidst ambiguity
• Familiarity with accounts payable and budget management

Nice to have:
