Job Description
PBS LearningMedia is PBS's flagship digital teaching and learning service for PreK-12 educators and students. We partner with PBS member stations and mission-aligned organizations to create, distribute, and engage PreK-12 teachers and students with thousands of free, standards-aligned resources including videos, interactives, teaching tips, and other media-rich learning experiences.

PBS LearningMedia is supporting a new multi-faceted programming and community engagement initiative surrounding Ken Burns's upcoming film, The American Revolution. The project will provide opportunities for individuals- including teachers and students-to participate in a national conversation about this period in US history. The project seeks to inspire diverse audiences across the United States to learn about how the Revolutionary era shaped our country's identity and to build understanding of how the ideals and contradictions of this era are essential for addressing some of today's most vital issues through civic participation.

The Audience Engagement Senior Manager will support the development and implementation of a comprehensive audience engagement strategy aligned to the goals of The American Revolution project. The Senior Manager will collaborate with PBS member stations and national partners to design and host in-person and virtual learning experiences, focused on key themes from The American Revolution film. This role will also support the broader marketing efforts for the project.

The ideal candidate knows educators and is able to think creatively and strategically about how to engage and delight teachers across disciplines. They have the ability to develop and maintain authentic relationships with various stakeholders and possess the ability to successfully design, manage, and implement concurrent projects.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Lead the planning and execution of scalable teacher engagement strategies including workshops, in-person and virtual professional learning sessions, conferences, and networking events.
• Design and implement surveys and/or other feedback mechanisms to gather insights from teachers, member stations, and partners to inform the design and enhancement of resources, materials, and engagement strategies for the project.
• Oversee and direct the entire life cycle of a request-for-proposals (RFP) process, including managing the awarding and oversight of grants to the project's engagement partners; monitoring progress throughout the grant period; and delivering final grantee reports.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop resources, materials, and toolkits that support teacher professional learning.
• Liaise with departments across PBS to ensure initiative-wide alignment with PBS's Democracy, Civics, and Journalism initiative.
• Design and manage a teacher influencer program to help build awareness and engagement around the project.
• Collaborate with project partners to manage the logistics and host a one-day teacher summit that includes keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities.
• Collaborate with the PBS LearningMedia marketing and content teams to support the overall content marketing, asset development, social media, and paid marketing efforts for the project.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teacher engagement efforts through metrics and feedback analysis and make recommendations for improvements as necessary.
• Stay informed about trends and best practices in civic education and teacher professional learning, sharing and incorporating relevant insights as appropriate.
• Promote an environment of collaboration and inclusion, ensuring programs and projects are represented by a diversity of experiences and perspectives.

Requirements for success:
• Bachelor's degree in education, marketing, or related field of study. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
• Six years of experience developing and managing strategic partnerships, engagement activities, teacher professional learning, or community outreach.
• Passionate about supporting educators and students.
• Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with teachers and stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent project management skills including planning, logistical and organizational skills.
• Proactive and takes initiative.
• Enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
• Ability to analyze data and derive actionable insights to inform decision-making.
• Proficient at designing presentations and using project management software.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm, positivity, and confidence.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time.
• Knowledge of the public television system a plus.
