The Social Content Manager & Producer will sit in the centre of all content, channel and campaign activity, partnering with the Managers in the team to oversee all social media for Channel 5, under the direction of the Head of Social. It's a small, nimble team, so they will be covering a broad range of fields, including social platform strategy, organic and paid social management, community management, social analytics, audience insights and performance reporting. But their specialism will be in social creative production, with an emphasis on TikTok and Instagram at first while the team builds Channel 5's presence on those platforms (which have become a core focus in the new social strategy).
The role will create and implement innovative and effective social campaigns and content that drives engagement and retention among existing followers, and ongoing follower growth. In partnership with the wider Channel 5 teams, the Social Media team will develop and deliver best-in-class locally developed and created social content. The team has direct responsibility for Channel 5 across all social platforms. • Able to formulate and manage high-profile organic social video campaigns with understanding of strategic paid boosting

• Confidence in knowing the best option for impact, rather than all that's possible
• A fan of UK TV/entertainment and in-the-know on what makes content stand out on social
• Meticulously organised with strong presentation and communication skills

What will you be doing?
Creative Planning and Producing
• Develop TikTok tone of voice and platform strategy in line with 5's social strategic ambition and objectives
• Watch TV shows and find chances to create social content that drives viewing, conversation or engagement, across owned accounts and for talent activity
• Write clear and concise content briefs to deliver on-the-fly social content for campaign activity
• Guide, educate and provide ongoing feedback to internal editors, freelancers and agencies to produce quality social content that is perfect for placement
• Supervise content production through an established workflow, directing, optimising and completing quality control for creative
• Build strong relationships with Content teams, Press and Production Companies to unlock access to show material, talent activity and amplification opportunities
• Ability to shoot and ideally edit if needed (for on-the-fly opportunities). Occasionally, you'll need to make content using our on-screen talent, with a need to have the ability to remain calm in the presence of your favourite TV person
Channel and Community Management
• Ensure work supports audience growth across Channel 5's social media accounts and drives engagement with established communities
• Shared responsibility for editorial strategy and social output, seeking opportunities to drive audience engagement, talkability around programming and ultimately TV viewing
• Prioritise output for the most engaged environments, in line with evolving social strategy (currently TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Threads)
• Adhere to Social Media Manager's guidance for all social posts ensuring copy is accessible to audiences and optimised for placement
• Adhere to social standard process for each priority account and be comfortable in channel leading publishing
• Contribute to Social Tone of Voice and C5 community management guidelines in partnership with SMM, HOS and CM and ensure adhered to by anybody posts to or running our social communities
Social Analysis & Reporting
• Key contributor to reporting, and should be interested in results and be able to find out what's done well and what hasn't – this information should inform future work
• Effectively analyse audience insight and commentary to develop social media activity that targets, engages and gets results
• Share actionable audience feedback with Commissioning, Marketing, Press and Sales to optimise audience experience
• Continuously review content performance benchmarks to ensure activity is delivering value against strategic business objectives
What are we looking for?
Essential:
• Minimum of 5 years of social media management experience
• Experience of establishing close working relationships
• Great writing skills and ability to craft creative, clear, and engaging copy
• Strong organisational skills and ability to thrive in fast paced team environment
• Editorial judgement and demonstrable experience as a creative problem solver and problem-solver
• Familiar with the Ofcom code and broadcast regulations so its doesn't waste your time on great ideas that turn out to be illegal
• Previous project management and budget planning experience
• Solid understanding of broader marketing and media fields
• Demonstrated experience managing a brand or channel on TikTok and Instagram
• Demonstrated experience in managing influencer activations and collaborations with talent
• Calm when demands are high and excellent powers of persuasion
Desirable:
• Working in the Entertainment industry (TV, SVOD, News, Publishing or Brand)
• Knowledgeable about the television or broadcasting industry
• Demonstrated experience handling engaged social media communities
• Experience using efficiency tools such as AirTable and Monday.com
• Previous experience independently handling agencies and/or freelancers
• Previous budget management experience
• Experience within a matrixed organisation
• Previous experience running direct reports
