Privacy Counsel (FTC)
WHAT IS THE ROLE?
Paramount is seeking a talented and creative Privacy Counsel to join its Privacy Group.
• The Privacy Counsel will play a key role in supporting the implementation of Paramount's Privacy Program, advising Paramount's iconic brands across its operations on various privacy compliance matters.
• The role will require monitoring compliance with data protection and privacy rules – but particularly in the EU, UK, and Switzerland – working closely with other members of Privacy Group, to implement all necessary compliance processes.
• The Privacy Counsel will be responsible for overseeing the completion of legitimate interest assessments, privacy impact assessments, and transfer impact assessments for Paramount's operations, and maintaining Paramount's record of processing activities. Additional responsibilities include advising Paramount's Information Security Group on cybersecurity laws and regulations, and supporting other members of the Law Department on data processing agreements.
• The position requires an innovative, forward-thinking, and results-orientated individual with a passion to solve complex problems in a creative and pragmatic way, and to translate laws and regulations into actionable policies and procedures that help meet Paramount's mission and objectives.
WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED?
• Law degree and registration with the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Bar Council, or equivalent European bar.
• IAPP certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) preferred.
• Experience in advising on the GDPR, the ePrivacy directive, and other data protection and privacy laws is essential, with experience working in the media and entertainment space in a multinational, US-headquartered organisation preferred.
• Experience working on data breaches, incident response, and advising on cyber risk, and other security issues.
• Experience in the digital advertising space, including programmatic and online behavioural advertising.
• Experience with carrying out privacy assessments.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced team
• Strong organisational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to adapt to changing priorities.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain a high level of confidentiality, respect, trust, and credibility.
• Ability to speak a second language a plus.
