Job Description
The position will require that the individual support the International Tax Reporting Director in being one of the primary liaisons between the VIMN international business and financial reporting and the ViacomCBS Corporate international tax reporting and tax compliance teams. The position will be responsible for understanding VCNI international transaction(s), ensuring that they are being tax accounted for on the correct legal entity(s) and communicating the appropriate details to the ViacomCBS Corporate tax department in a timely manner. The position will also review legal entity accounting, especially with respect to intercompany charges. During the quarterly and annual financial reporting and tax compliance periods, the position will require the timely and accurate submission of data required by ViacomCBS Corporate tax. The position will interact with VCNI international Cluster Controllers to ensure timely submission of tax-related information. The position will also be required to perform special tax projects initiated by ViacomCBS Corporate tax and may be required to travel to NY or other jurisdictions when necessary.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordination/Reporting of ALL international quarterly and annual income tax requirements to ViacomCBS Tax on an actual and forecasted basis for tax reporting purposes. This will include preparation and/or review of quarterly foreign tax reporting packages, the recording of tax account balances, providing background and insight into VIMN international transactions, such as assisting the VCNI team in properly recording the transactions on the applicable legal entity(s) and communicating effectively with the Corporate tax group about the applicable financial accounting implications.
• A principal liaison with EY and other tax preparation service providers for information and data needed to prepare the annual income tax returns. Review and approve completed tax returns prior to filing the tax return on the Company's behalf. This also includes the calculation and recording of the true-ups which was previously a responsibility of the local finance team.
• Gather relevant information from various systems to prepare and populate tax organizers which will be utilized for the preparation of US Foreign tax forms 5471, 8858, and 8865.
• Coordinate with ViacomCBS's Intercompany Center of Excellence in reviewing legal entity accounting for intercompany charges (e.g., Transfer Pricing) as well as how revenues and expenses are recorded/allocated to other international entities as applicable. Analyze figures to ensure intercompany charges result in reasonable pretax income or loss by legal entity and follow-up with ViacomCBS's Intercompany Center of Excellence when necessary.
• Provide income tax related information for the preparation of annual statutory financial statements as well as compile information necessary for local income tax audits of VCNI companies. This includes the review and understanding of withholding tax details for audit and tax credit purposes.
• Automate and simplify processes (e.g. tax organizers data pulls, quarterly tax provision calculation via Excel macros, income tax roll forward reconciliation checks, and tax reform support schedules) when required.
• Determine required tax installment payments by legal entity and process payments per the local due dates, which was previously a responsibility of the local finance teams. Manage the VCNI cash tax forecast process.
• Mentor, train and assist with managing the Direct Tax Analyst.
Job Requirements
• Fluency in English is required.
• Must have excellent intrapersonal skills; the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Must be comfortable communicating via email, telephone and/or in person.
• Must be process oriented. Problem solver, self-starter and ''finisher'', highly organized and deadline conscious. Must be able to handle significant transaction volume and diversity of assignments and projects.
• Must be a nimble individual; able to handle and manage change in a proactive way.
• Must be analytical and detail-oriented.
• Accountable personality who takes ownership of tasks/processes that he or she is responsible for.
• Must have exceptional computer skills and understand and have used accounting systems in the past; Use of SAP, LWPlan, a plus.
• 7 to 10 years of public/private accounting experience.
• Entertainment/Media or similar industry experience a plus.
• Recognized business degree in Accounting (Chartered Accountant).
