About the team
Media Planning's role is to manage Paramount UK's owned and operated promotional inventory airtime to speak to audiences in the most effective and targeted way possible, across all channels and platforms. The department works closely with our Programming, Scheduling, Marketing, Creative, Research and Growth teams to drive viewing and revenue, showcase our breadth of content and strengthen brand perception.
The role
This role will be responsible for the planning, implementation and analysis of highly audience-focused and data-led promotional campaigns across the 5 Streaming platform as part of the Media Planning department within the TV Media team at Paramount UK.
Responsibilities:
• Working with the Programming, Editorial and Marketing teams for 5Streaming to define an on-platform, data-led promotional strategy to support how we communicate the evolution of how our customers consume our content.
• This role will be responsible for the holistic planning, implementation, and analysis of highly audience-focused and data-led promotional campaigns on 5 Streaming designed to drive viewing and retain customers.
• Quantify the typical monthly promotional inventory to enable forecasting to inform optimum number of campaigns and priority weights of the 5 Streaming's promotional airtime.
• Work closely with the Programming, Editorial and Marketing teams for 5 Streaming to ensure a high level of understanding of the editorial and operational strategy for the service.
• Work closely with the Promo Ops team to ensure break junction templates are fit for purpose across 5 Streaming to maximize promotional messaging opportunities as well as fulfil commercial imperatives. This should also include looking at new ways to communicate with our audience to drive and retain viewing.
• Work closely with the 5 Streaming Marketing and Research teams to inform the targeting of all promotional messages.
• Working closely with the Promo Ops team to ensure each campaign is fully set up with clear targeting within the requisite timeframe.
• Working with the 5 Streaming Marketing & Creative teams, create monthly promotional campaign makelists, detailing time-length and versioning requirements. This will also include being the Content Legal and Compliance liaison figure for all assets prior to delivery.
• Identifying cross-promotional opportunities across all Paramount UK O&O channels and platforms spanning from full campaigns through to navigational and on screen GFX to drive viewing. Ensure there are measurable data points available to track success.
• Working with the Streaming data team, ensure all campaigns have specific metric targets assigned. You will also be responsible for monitoring campaign performance against these targets whilst campaigns are live, adapting accordingly to data trends if necessary. This will also involve data analytics to correlate promotional support with content performance.
• Develop a strong working relationship with the Growth and Lifecycle Marketing team to ensure alignment on prioritization and strategic objectives. Liaise closely with marketing and creative counterparts to drive joined up campaign goals.
• Conduct in depth post campaign evaluations to gather learnings and ensure future best practice. This may involve reviewing campaign target metrics and frequency caps to ensure the most efficient and effective use of inventory.
• Work with the relevant commercial teams for the service to understand the commercial operation and inventory management as well as assist where necessary with any commercial, affiliate or sponsorship initiatives.
• Keep an active eye on competitor activity and any development or trends in the global BVOD, AVOD and SVOD industry.
What skills you need
• We're looking for someone who is data driven, insight led and a creative thinker. A proactive thought starter – bringing insights and innovative ideas from learnings across industry.
• We're looking for someone to lead on the creation of strategic and tactical media plans for 5 Streaming who can develop and recommend campaign media strategies through a consumer-first lens to ensure we are reaching our target audiences in the most creative and efficient ways.
• Media planning experience in a VOD environment, preferably Broadcast VOD but not essential. Experience using a channel management system to create promotional assets and apply targeting parameters for metric-led goals.
• Knowledge of or experience in working in a VOD environment, understanding the editorial, operational, and commercial demands as well as VOD systems experience, for eg Freewheel and Salesforce
• Proven knowledge of BARB and media analysis tools (Infosys/Techedge) and techniques to conduct research.
• Proven experience in effectively and diplomatically dealing with a range of departments and levels within an organisation.
• Excellent communication is essential. It also requires experience in presenting to a wide range of audiences.
• Ability and flexibility to adapt to changes in schedules and delivery.
• Experience in developing new systems and processes.
• Demonstrable understanding of the commercial broadcast and VOD marketplace
• Outstanding eye for detail, numeracy, and organisational skills
• Super organized with the ability to prioritize and co-ordinate a combination of roles, and work under pressure.
