Job Description
KRON4, the Bay Area's Local News Station, is searching for a senior assignment desk editor to join our top-rated morning show team. This position will research, find, and confirm news stories for broadcast and digital. The senior assignment desk editor plays a pivotal role in assigning and communicating with our field crews, as well as enterprising stories and aggressively tracking breaking news. This position will work out of the KRON4 newsroom located on the Embarcadero.

This will be a full time, non-union, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities:
• Works executive producer to assign and manage field crews.
• Tracks and confirms stories from all sources including government agencies, wire services, community groups, and social media.
• Organizes, planning and follow-up of news stories.
• Assists Assignment Manager in news coverage of big events.
• Participates in daily editorial meetings.
• Interacts with viewers/users via phone and social media sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:
• 5 years of newsroom experience required.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work nights, mornings, weekends.

Compensation: $40+/HR to commensurate with experience and skill level
