Job Description
The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is hiring a Technology Reporter to cover the intersection of tech policy and politics. You will be responsible for covering the ways Washington, DC regulates and responds to technology, how technology innovations are shaping politics and the the ways major tech businesses and leaders influence policymakers.
About the role:
The Technology reporter will be responsible for a mix of spot news stories, regular briefs and features. A successful candidate will be able to reveal and explain the biggest tech policy battles for a politically minded national audience, expose the ways the tech industry exerts its power in Washington and reveal how tech is reshaping politics and campaigning in the digital era. You will also work closely with colleagues on The Hill's policy, congressional, White House and campaign teams in a highly collaborative newsroom.
Responsibilities include:
-Leading The Hill's coverage of technology policy, including legislation, regulation and federal court cases in collaboration with The Hill's Technology and Business reporter.
-Writing a mix news briefs and features for The Hill's website and newspaper
-Co-writing The Hill's nightly Technology newsletter, which highlights the team's daily coverage and events to watch
Skills and qualifications:
A degree in journalism or a related field is required, and previous reporting experience in a metro or national media environment is preferred.
Candidates should have good instincts for understanding what readers want and be able to produce error-free, clean journalism on a tight timetable. Basic familiarity with Google Trends, SEO skills and real-time analytics are a plus.

Compensation ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 commensurate with experience and skill level. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, Life Insurance, and 401K with company match.
