Job Description
The Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) Reporter is responsible for producing, reporting, shooting, writing, voicing, editing and delivering news content across all platforms in a clear, engaging, and meaningful way for our audience.

About the Role:
27 News and FOX 43 News are looking for a driven and dynamic Multimedia Journalist to uncover and report impactful news stories in Northeast Kansas. This is an opportunity to work in Topeka, the state's capital, a city full of enterprising and breaking news opportunities.

Our newsroom has a proven track record of excellence, earning Kansas Association of Broadcasters' 2025 Station of the Year for our outstanding coverage and storytelling. You'll be joining a seasoned team, including a news director with eight years of leadership at the station and experienced journalists who are dedicated to the craft.

Key Responsibilities:
• Report and produce compelling news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
• Arrange and conduct interviews to provide in-depth coverage
• Review, edit, and fact-check stories for accuracy, grammar and journalistic integrity
• Research and analyze background information to enhance storytelling
• Pitch relevant and engaging story ideas to news managers and producers
• Cover a wide range of events, including politics, sports, community affairs and breaking news
• Shoot and edit video content for on-air and digital distribution
• Write and publish stories for the station website and social media platforms
• Engage with viewers and users on social media to enhance audience interaction
• Ensure all content meets company standards for quality and ethics
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong on-air presence and ability to ad-lib as needed
• Proficiency with newsroom technology, including video cameras, editing software and newsroom systems
• Ability to work under deadlines, manage multiple assignments and adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
