Job Description

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, seeks a hybrid IT Manager and Broadcast Engineer to support a variety of applications and systems that our newsroom and events producers use to create some of America's most-trusted and most-watched policy and politics content.

This position contributes to The Hill's success by ensuring our video and live event production teams are free from operational impediments.

Candidates must be highly-collaborative, flexible, responsive, creative problem-solvers with significant technical acumen. You should enjoy quickly switching context from network switches to filesharing applications to media production suites like NewTek's TriCaster - whatever might pop up in the course of creating a TV show or hosting a live event.

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ON-SITE AT 1625 K ST NW, WASHINGTON DC.

Our corporate IT organization provides desktop support and manages Microsoft 365 and similar enterprise systems for 15,000+ employees. We'll ask you to help augment that in cases where on-site, hands-on-keyboard help is needed with The Hill's staff of approximately 150

In this role, you will be expected to:
• Help resolve blocking issues and coordinate solutions across multiple technical teams
• Effectively and independently communicate with technology and business teams
• Act as a coach/mentor to colleagues, helping them better-leverage technology
• Identify technical tradeoffs, escalate risks, and manage incident resolution
• Monitor performance and finds opportunities for continuous improvement
• Think critically and constructively about complex business problems, clearly communicate analyses, and present solutions that address business needs
• Determine technical feasibility, dependencies, and constraints of new products and features with support from various internal and external product and technology teams
• Stay abreast of new capabilities and contributes to new products and features

Candidates should have these skills and qualifications:
• 3+ years experience in a professional workplace environment
• General familiarity with studio operations for live audiovisual production
• Proficiency working with Apple hardware and operating systems
• Understanding of PC hardware and software, including desktop management tools, application configurations and cloud based technologies.
• General understanding of MS Active Directory and Exchange
• General understanding of Local Area and Wide Area Networks and Wireless.
• Natural curiosity and a track record of pushing boundaries to solve problems
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and prioritization skills
• Able to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
• Able to easily and comfortably switch between day-to-day tactics and project planning
• Highly resourceful team player, also able to be extremely effective independently
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to build relationships
