NewsNation Executive Producer of Special Projects & Events (Chicago, IL)

The NewsNation Executive Producer of Special Projects & Events serves as a key editorial leader leading development, production and execution of network-wide original franchises and series, as well as production of live special coverage for the network. The ideal candidate will be an experienced show producer who is adept at planning coverage, experienced at serving as senior producer/editor of taped packages, and comfortable leading teams in the control room. The Executive Producer is a creative storyteller, a decisive leader, a natural collaborator.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Pitch original and innovative content ideas for franchises, series, and exclusive pieces
• Develop production schedule and ovexersee editorial/creative process
• Make sure all relevant parties are included in project kickoffs and all stakeholders are being consulted as needed throughout the process.
• Assign projects to team members while overseeing bandwidth of each person.
• Mentor team members as needed, implement best practices growth goals, work to hold team members accountable
• Lead production conversations with all cross functional teams, including digital, as needed
• Develops rundowns and plans for live breaking news specials or special events
• Oversees control room team during live breaking news or special programming

Requirements & Skills:
• College degree or equivalent related experience preferred.
• Experience as network Senior Producer or Executive Producer.
• Strong organizational, and people skills are vital
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential.
• Excellent writing and copy-editing skills
• Must also be capable of interacting positively and productively with other employees all while understanding you are leading by example.
