About the Role
The Screening Specialist is a role within the Screenings team responsible for the creation of the media that plays at premieres, festivals and other external Netflix screenings. They work closely with Post Production, Title Ops, Globalization, Public Relations and Screenings Leads to ensure the highest quality assets are created.
In addition to asset creation, they manage technical coordination efforts for screenings and theatrical distribution. In essence, they will be responsible for the creation, coordination and on-site experience for screenings and theatrical distribution of Netflix content.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of digital cinema packages and media creation. They will have expertise in post production, theatrical screenings and distribution/operations with experience working on promotional events where flexibility is crucial for success. They will be able to communicate technical information to both a technical and non-technical audience.
The Work
• Creation of Screening Assets including but not limited to: DCPs, Media Files (h264 and Apple ProRes), DVDs/BDs, viewing links, and more.
• Work closely with Screenings and Post teams to anticipate asset needs in advance of incoming screening requests
• Familiarizing themselves with their assigned titles to anticipate potential issues (aspect ratios, forced narratives)
• Familiarizing themselves with the associated title campaigns to better anticipate and prioritize timelines, budgets and workload
• Building and tracking asset delivery timelines to ensure assets are completed in advance of relevant campaign dates and incoming screening requests
• Communicate effectively with various cross functional teams to ensure proper planning, availability and delivery of material
• Maintain, curate and expand a global network of digital cinema mastering and distribution facilities; and technical vendors
• Liaise with filmmakers to complete cuts/edits necessary for the creation of screening assets, as well as coordinate the proper QC of a final asset
• Conduct qualitative review of the created files to ensure they are correct and meet the creation specifications
• Manage scheduling, tracking, and verification of international deliveries of screenings, festivals, and theatrical assets to venues.
• Manage digital cinema audio/visual engineers at premieres and special screenings
• Troubleshooting file based delivery and creation issues in a quick and constructive manner
• Availability to troubleshoot issues on nights and weekends as needed
The Candidate
• Proven screenings experience of 5+ years within a studio, network or media services company
• Strong working knowledge of digital cinema (DCPs, KDMs/DKDMs, theatrical aspect ratios)
• Knowledge of digital audio and video file formats and creation software (Resolve, FCP, Avid, Adobe)
• Knowledge of Post Production Imaging (Color Space, DI, P3 vs Rec709) and Sound Workflows (Nearfield and Theatrical mixes)
• Familiar with the current trends and workflows for both UHD/4K, HDR, 2K, Dolby Atmos, Vision, 7.1 and 5.1 audio formats
• Ability to handle a heavy volume of work, supervising several projects in tandem
• Effective in dealing with external vendors, agencies and internal stakeholders
• Excellent organizational skills, awareness of deadlines and high attention to detail. Meticulous about the details and thorough, completes tasks and follows up
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal, sensitive to cultural nuances and D&I aspects
• Creative problem solving abilities
• A proactive and positive thinker and a constant contributor to the team
• Ability to work well under pressure while remaining flexible and nimble. Scrappy, resourceful and relentless in trying to find a solution
• Curious to innovate to make the work better - interest in developing best practice and streamlining administrative processes which can simplify how we work
• Proficient knowledge of Google Suite and are quick to learn and adapt with new systems
• Excellent communication in English
• Experience working in the Asia-Pacific region
• Experience working with on promotional events; and theatrical distribution and operations
