The Role
We are looking for a Security Software Engineer to build and advance our engineering security controls automation charter at Netflix. Our focus in the next year is taking an engineering-first approach to reducing the risk of software vulnerabilities to our vast engineering ecosystem. You will work cross-functionally with other teams across Netflix Security Engineering and Platform Engineering to drive this impactful change and risk reduction.
The Team
The Engineering Controls Automation Team (ECAT) invests in deeply understanding our vast and ever-changing ecosystem and our internal customers, so we can focus on the work that drives the most impact. We serve Netflix by right-sizing security risks where possible, and providing appropriate context and actionable guidance (at the right time and in the right place) that will meaningfully reduce security risk at Netflix.
Desired background:

• Proven ability to drive security engineering solutions and reduce security risk at scale
• Proven history of shaping and delivering thoughtful end-to-end software solutions
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues cross-functionally
• Experienced with wrangling data into insights, and love to dig into the hard questions
• Familiar with overall system design and architecture, and passionate about progressively improving software
You will succeed in this role if you:
• Take full ownership of the challenge of working at scale
• Take a pragmatic approach - you engage with the nuances and tradeoffs of security risk
• Believe a diverse and inclusive team is a critical aspect of a sustainable and effective work environment
• Are customer-focused and empathetic - with attention to both developer experience and security risk reduction
• Care about improving the systems around you, and leaving things better than you found them
• Are a strong team player and communicator
• Use data to inform and communicate your decisions
