Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Supervising Producer with strong editorial judgment, extensive experience in video package production, and a proven ability to lead in a live control room environment. This role requires a dynamic production professional who can oversee high-quality storytelling while mentoring and developing junior talent.
The Supervising Producer will work across two teams-NBC Nightly News and Specials-playing a critical role in both feature production and live news coverage.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the development, production, and final edit of feature pieces and news-of-day packages for NBC Nightly News, ensuring editorial accuracy and excellence
• Supervise control room operations as needed- coordinating remotes, correspondents, and graphic/video elements for NBC Nightly News and Specials
• Write and refine anchor copy to enhance clarity and impact
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development support to direct reports and junior staff
• Work closely with the Executive Producer to develop compelling story ideas and coverage angles
• Plan and execute coverage for major special events, including scripting opens, overseeing production elements, and managing key editorial components
• Support additional programming as needed
Qualifications
• Minimum 8 years of experience in news production, with a strong background in both pre-taped and live broadcast formats
• At least 3 years of leadership experience with a track record of talent development and team management
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
• Proven ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced news environments, particularly during breaking news coverage
• Strong writing skills, editorial judgment, and attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams, including senior producers, correspondents, editors, and technical staff
• Must be willing to work in-office, including weekends and flexible hours as news coverage demands
