As part of the Decision Sciences team, the Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for creating analytical solutions for various verticals of NBCU's video streaming service. This includes, but is not limited to, dynamic pricing, messaging optimization, CRM solutions, and customer value assessment.
In this role, the Senior Data Scientist will employ advanced data science methodologies such as causal uplift modeling, contextual and non-contextual bandits, experimentation, and Generative AI (LLMs). They will collaborate closely with business owners, teammates, and engineers to develop state-of-the-art algorithmic targeting solutions for a dynamic media platform. Additionally, they will be responsible for building, maintaining, and testing robust production-ready systems that may need to serve low-latency predictions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Leading and contributing to projects related to the development of machine learning models, including causal uplift modeling, contextual bandits, and Generative AI techniques.
• Collaborating with team members through pairing and code reviews.
• Effectively communicating work and project implications to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Conducting rigorous cross-validation, backtesting, and offline policy evaluation of machine learning models.
• Demonstrating familiarity with CI/CD processes and contributing to a sustainable and robust codebase.
• Working with batch jobs/data pipelines and deploying through systems such as Airflow, Luigi, and Composer.
• Building and interacting with production systems for serving machine learning predictions, including real-time systems like TensorFlow Extended (TFX) pipelines and TensorFlow Serving.
Qualifications
• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years of combined experience in data science in industry or research.
• Solid knowledge of standard data science and statistical techniques.
• Experience building machine learning models and frameworks with consideration for training, prediction time, and their implications on production systems.
• Strong knowledge of one or more of the following: causal inference techniques, Generative AI (LLM) implementation, or contextual bandits.
• Experience implementing scalable systems (Google Cloud preferred).
• Proficiency with data visualization tools and techniques.
• Ability to turn stakeholder ideas into rigorous solutions.
• Proficient in Python and SQL.

Desired Characteristics:
• Proven ability to work with product teams to deploy machine learning models that drive key performance indicators.
• Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD processes, batch jobs/data pipelines, and real-time systems like TensorFlow Extended (TFX) pipelines and TensorFlow Serving.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
