Job Description

NBC Connecticut is looking for a Senior Producer to collaborate with our team of exceptional journalists to create engaging and compelling content for our broadcast and digital platforms. In this role, the successful candidate will serve as the primary ''fill-in'' for the Executive Producer, and support Producers as a back-up from time-to-time.

Essential Functions:
• Coach and mentor producers and interns.
• Produce daily newscast
• Serve as the primary resource for onboarding new hires and offering training for team members.
• Work closely with the Executive Producer to determine the composition and flow of the newscast.
• Make certain program elements abide by NBC Owned Television Stations News Guidelines as well as the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.
• Collaborate with NBC Owned Television Stations and our Managing Editor for content sharing and big story coverage.
• Pitch compelling story ideas and guest segments.
• Participate in daily planning meetings and contribute ideas for news programming based on the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.
• Use online and social media tools to monitor and report news, find sources and leads for stories.
• Monitor mainstream and social media sites for story ideas and competitive intelligence.
• Update and manage the news style guide and work implement changes.
• Fill in as Executive Producer when needed on other NBC Connecticut newscasts.
• Produce and write assigned segments, which may include streaming newscasts: write, copy edit, and select video.
• Generate daily topicals and show graphics.
• Be present in control room during news program and communicate with producer, director and production personnel.
• Ensure video detail and news rundown is provided to editors and make certain all video is previewed for accuracy.

Qualifications
• At least 3 years' experience line-producing newscasts.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

• Demonstrated experience with desktop editing systems.

Requirements:
• Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights.
• Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift.
• Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Required On Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
