Job Description
OVERVIEW
The Senior News Desk Producer will be responsible for securing first or exclusive interviews with newsmakers and market movers. You will play a key role in building and strengthening media relations with key institutions in global financial markets and international business community, with a focus on Asia Pacific. You will also work with Supervising producers and producers in the newsroom in developing program segments and assignments based on CNBC's editorial priorities. You will also assist the Head of the News Desk in managing the daily operations of the desk and grow the next generation of journalists.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Secure first or exclusive high-profile interviews with newsmakers and market movers.
• Build and strengthen relationships with key players in the global economy, such as governments, corporates, multilateral institutions, investors, and think tanks, etc.
• Work together with senior members of the newsroom in planning and executing outside-broadcast assignments in Singapore and overseas.
• Nurture junior journalists in the newsroom and assist the Head of the News Desk in creating an inclusive and equal environment for the team.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Track record of securing high-profile interviews with business leaders and policymakers.
• Strong editorial judgment and good knowledge of the Asia economy.
• Able to work calmly and steadily in a fast-paced, high-pressure breaking news environment.
• Strong communication skills with excellent command of English.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
• 8 years of newsroom experience, ideally with a focus on the global economy and financial markets.
• Experience in people management and team building.
