JOB OBJECTIVE
The Group Controllership function of NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct to Consumer is ultimately responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate completion of monthly and quarterly financial closings in accordance with US GAAP. The Group consolidates more than 30 legal entities and interfaces with operating companies in Western Europe, Asia Pacific, CEE, Latin America and North America as well as completing close activities for Dreamworks TV, E! International and multiple head office entities.

The Senior Accountant must ensure that there is a strong control environment to support the business and regularly review processes, identifying potential improvement opportunities. They must also ensure that finances are accurately managed in accordance with company policy and relevant accounting standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary areas of focus of the role will be:
• Responsibility for the monthly and quarterly closing processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and corporate data requests. This includes working closely with both domestic and international Operating Companies
• Responsibility for the preparation, analysis and review of monthly balance sheet packs as well as more detailed quarterly consolidated Balance Sheet Variance Analysis presented to VP Finance
• Maintain accounting for Dreamworks TV, E! International and head office companies
• Prepare and post consolidation entries, and maintain the consolidation ledgers
• Liaise with OpCo's to understand, approve and post journal entries post close – including FX adjustments after the automated FX routines
• Work with finance teams and other Group businesses to prepare elimination entries on programming acquired from Group companies
• Lead adhoc projects including legal entity rationalizations, consolidation ledger clean downs and liquidations
• Engage and influence cross functional teams on process improvement, compliance, or other projects – requiring frequent interaction as well as official communications with regional controllers
• Work closely with tax and transfer pricing teams to ensure recharges across the international and domestic business are efficient and compliant
• Manage day to day Accounts Payable processes to ensure prompt payments
• Work alongside the PCR Project team to develop system enhancements/corrections for HQ programming assets and manage Global programming contract maintenance

Month-end / Quarter-end Financial reporting
• Responsible for the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and others as required
• Identify and address the main risks in order to facilitate a clean close
• Escalate any issues or risks to the Assistant Group Financial Controller and suggest timely solutions
• Prepare Programming Contract Right monthly topside journals and others as required
• Prepare intercompany recharges both intergroup and to other Business Units within NBCUniversal, Comcast and Sky
• Management of R2R outsourced resources to assist in month and quarter end related activities; review of recharge and other close

Statutory audits
• Completing statutory audit work and internal audit requirements to ensure deadlines are met and key issues escalated to the relevant stakeholder. This includes preparation of the Networks management fee through to transfer pricing sign off.

Governance, 3rd party & internal strategic partnerships
• Support FinOps' end-to-end P2P, OTC and R2R processes
• Ad hoc project work as determined by Assistant Group Controller
• General ledger & HQ support as businesses expand both internationally and globally
• Perform standard and ad hoc analysis as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential
• Qualified accountant - ACA
• Audit background preferable
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience
• Experience managing external audit process across multiple entities
• Experience in Programming Contract Right accounting
• Excellent excel, financial analytical skills are essential
• Strong analytics and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and high standards in quality and accurate reporting
• Strong influence and communication skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours with tight deadlines
• Strong candidates will be well organized and able to prioritize multiple and competing priorities

Desired
• Experience of working with General Ledger and Consolidation systems: SAP/BPC/AOE
• Experience of media/entertainment industry
• International experience of working across multiple regions and time zones
• Experience working in a large multinational corporation with transfer pricing requirements
