Job Description
The NBCU News Group Internal Communications function drives connection and culture across the division of best-in-class news brands. This role is a foundational part of our ability to stay connected with employees and leadership across the entire News division, including NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, Telemundo Enterprises, NBCU Local across all regions and platforms including Domestic, International, Linear, Digital and Streaming. In this role, you'll support our Internal Communications leader to deliver initiatives that drive the overall internal communications and News Group strategy.
The objective of the internal communications function is to translate individual purpose and pride to a connected set of values, a sense of belonging, identity and culture, anchored in our News Group Strategic Priorities.

Structure and Experience:
The Manager of Internal Communications will support all employee-facing communications initiatives for NBCU News Group businesses. Reporting to the Vice President of Internal Communications across the following areas: executive and team communications, cross-portfolio priorities, employee experience including career development and wellbeing initiatives, and group-wide strategic initiatives.
The desired candidate should have experience in internal communications, either in-house or agency, and a track record of deploying successful employee engagement strategies. Media experience, team management and senior executive support/experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a creative, motivated self-starter with incredible attention to detail, an understanding of media trends and strategy, a team-focused attitude, and a solutions-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Connection –
• Work to ensure employees are equipped with the information, resources and tools they need to deliver world class journalism as part of the NBCU News Group and have a working knowledge of the News Group Strategic Priorities and general business strategy.
• Lead tactical execution in serving information across various internal channels.
• Develop content to help deliver information in a variety of formats.
• Consider new ways to reach employees domestically and abroad to stay connected and engaged across the division.
• Partner closely with News Group HR, DEI and News Group Leaders to deliver programming and partnerships for employees that advance the mission and goals of the organization, including town halls, employee councils, career and wellbeing event programming and more.
• Collaborate with NBCU divisional Internal Communication teams and Corporate Communications to streamline and cascade essential information and benefits for News Group employees.
• Support the News Group Communications team in an operational capacity, including supporting team meetings, organizing team building activities, and administration of the News Group Media web site.
Executive & Team Communications –
• With direction from Vice President, work with leaders to ensure employees understand company strategy and how their roles and projects align to our overall vision and mission.
• Plan, draft materials and maintain calendars for key events and tactics, including Chairman Updates, town halls, special programming for career development and DEI initiatives, newsletters, SharePoint site, and more as the Internal Communications function continues to expand.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in communications function
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required (preferred writing samples available)
• Design and/or creative development experience
• Intranet and employee communications management experience
• Strong project management experience, including the ability to identify and manage against KPIs, as well as qualitative and quantitative points of performance
• Proficiency in MS Office, experience with project management platforms (i.e. Trello, MS Planner) and communication software (i.e. Campaign Monitor, Emma, Slack)
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Desired Characteristics
• A demonstrated strategic thinker, with a strong communications background and an eye for new approaches in effective messaging
• Demonstrated interest and background in media industry, News experience preferred
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively
• Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information
• Comfort in navigating a complex environment to obtain info and seek buy-in, a self-starter that demonstrates leadership with or without formal authority through strong influencing skills
• Team-oriented with an appetite for driving initiatives that ladder into a larger team strategy
• An individual that cares about driving a positive experience for colleagues across the organization

• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $85,000 – $100,000 (bonus eligible)
