Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW
The Manager, Finance is an integral member of the NBCUniversal, UP&E Consumer Products finance team, responsible for providing operational and financial support to the APAC Consumer Products team across all categories (Toys, Fashion & Living, Consumables, Stationery, Publishing, etc). The primary focus will be Financial Planning & Analysis and support business development to drive growth and organizational performance. The qualified candidate must be able to multi-task and balance priorities on competing initiatives. Note: APAC covers Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, SEA & India
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and manage separate annual full P&L (revenue and costs) budget and forecasts for Japan and Korea markets, that rolls up to the larger APAC region
• Partner with Japan and Korea Business/Commercial leads to achieve annual financial targets and provide analysis to support key decision for business expansion and new business opportunities
• Perform and facilitate financial validation processes on revenues and costs, identify key financial risks and opportunities, analyze variances between actuals and forecasts, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions
• Manage Japan and Korea's Order-To-Cash process for direct cost (marketing and retail activations) including PO tracking and invoice processing
• Support cross-regional APAC functions including managing APAC revenue pivot tables and consolidating regional forecast deliverables
• Collaborate with Global LA team and Controllership to validate/identify accurate reporting, findings and observations; assist in new processes, systems implementations, and improvement plans
Recurring processes:
• Annual budgeting process
• Quarterly financial forecasting and pacing (quarterly closing)
• Quarterly licensee reporting of royalties
Examples of specific tasks (that one may be involved):
• Facilitate financial forecast discussions with key market commercial heads, analyze and identify key business drivers, risks and opportunities
• Perform, report and deliver financial forecast analysis comparing vs. budget and prior year performance in forms of excel financial models
• Communicate and support licensees with forecast and royalty uploading processes using internally developed internet-based systems
• Own the Japan and Korea presentation decks for annual budget and quarterly forecast reviews and assist with Regional APAC presentation deck to be presented to the Senior management team
• Assist in research and data-driven insights on market landscape and key business metrics to help uncover business trends and opportunities on an ad-hoc basis
• Identify and implement improvements to forecasting, budgeting and reporting processes, including financial systems and tools to increase overall efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Technical & Professional:
• Career Level: Experienced
• Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience (in Consumer Products / Retail environment or Global Media & Entertainment industry a plus), in a finance function
• Solid accounting / finance background required
• Native/ Fluent language skills in Japanese (ability to facilitate and run discussions) and Advanced skills in English (ability to read/write/interpret smoothly, ability to speak in simple business settings), required
• Advanced Excel skills (ability to create financial models from PowerPivot and Data Modeling), required
• PowerPoint skills, including ability to ''tell a story'' using PowerPoint
• Experience with financial systems such as SAP, a plus
• Qualified accounting and finance skills (i.e., certified accountant, Mastery in business administrations), a plus
General:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Takes initiative and follows through on projects
• Must be accurate, highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as being a team player in a fast-paced environment, working with a variety of personalities
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments and work well under pressure
