Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Category Strategy; the Category Strategy Manager will be part of a team responsible for developing deep knowledge of assigned industries/clients and translating that knowledge into scalable, insight-driven and client-focused NBCU portfolio solutions and strategic positioning. The Category Strategy team is also responsible for creating thought leadership narratives grounded in audience, content, media, and cultural trends at the national and global level. ​The role will also support the day-to-day activities and partnership between the Client Partnerships, sales, and marketing teams to drive revenue and grow our clients' businesses

Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as part of the go-to, expert team for key category research inclusive of Technology, Entertainment, and Telecommunications across NBCUniversal Ad Sales
• Research, analyze and report on relevant categories, changing consumer behaviors & media industry trends
• Perform dataset analysis to identify relevant insights and translate into clear, concise and polished internal & external-facing materials
• Develop, deliver, and present compelling stories around the relevant categories, including trends and insights to facilitate the development of client-centric strategies & category-level solutions
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of the NBCUniversal portfolio & provide strategic sales positioning to differentiate the NBCU portfolio in the marketplace
• Turn insights and trends into compelling narratives reflecting how Comcast/NBCU platforms and assets can turn a client's brand positioning into a fully realized marketing and media investment at scale
• Identify new revenue growth opportunity areas and work with sales & cross-functional stakeholders to capitalize on those opportunities
• Operationalize, organize, and project manage day-to-day activities of the Category Strategy team and relevant categories
• Oversee and/or provide guidance to more junior team members as necessary (e.g. Ad Sales Rotational Associates, interns, etc.)

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 5+ years in relevant experience
• Successful candidate must be a strategic thinker with a strong interest in advertising/media, consumer insights, and business.
• Team player with strong communication, strategic narrative and interpersonal skills. Focused on cultivating and growing strong internal and external relationships
• Capable of handling multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Act proactively to anticipate and deliver on sales requests and client need
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately with excellent attention to detail
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY
• Willingness to travel and work overtime
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

• Outstanding reading comprehension, writing and presenting skills
• Understanding of the creative development process
• Passionate about the television and digital media space
• Deck/presentation design skills a plus

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
