As part of the Direct-to-Consumer Decision Sciences team, the Lead Data Scientist will lead the creation of statistical and machine learning solutions for one or more of the content verticals of NBCU's video streaming service.
In this role, the Lead Data Scientist will build and deploy machine learning solutions at scale to empower and optimize leadership's and our research partners' abilities to lift our enterprise metrics by best leveraging Peacock's library, its individual content, and its content elements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead projects in the development of analytical models using statistical and machine learning methodologies
• Serve as a team expert in statistical methods and applied machine learning
• Drive the collection and manipulation of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
• Possess a strong understanding of the differences between inferential, predictive, prescriptive models and experience applying methods in all three areas
• Work with business stakeholders to define priorities, approaches and business requirements for data science solutions
• Translate complex problems and solutions to all levels of the organization
• Drive innovation of the methodologies and tools used by the team
Qualifications
• Advanced (Master or PhD) degree with specialization in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field
• 5+ years of combined experience in data science in industry or research
• Ability to work with stakeholders on ambiguous business problems to drive project ideas and turn them into rigorous solutions
• Solid knowledge of different classes of algorithms such as unsupervised learning, forecasting, neural networks, GenAI etc.
• Experience implementing scalable systems (Google Cloud preferred)
• Experience with Airflow or similar workflow management tools
• Experience using data visualization tools and techniques to deliver and present business insights and value
• Proficient in Python and SQL
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience implementing and owning end-to-end data projects with a diverse group of stakeholders
• Knowledge of enterprise-level digital analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau, Looker, etc.)
• Experience in a subscription and active user-driven business
• Strong oral and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audience
• Drive for excellence yet willing to be scrappy and can deliver solutions when needed
• Team-oriented and collaborative with a demonstrated aptitude for learning and growth
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
