Director, Global Finance Operations - Record to Report (R2R)
Responsibilities
Role Purpose:
The Global Finance Operations Record to Report Director leads the delivery of Record to Report functions and teams including general ledger accounting, monthly close, fixed asset accounting, account reconciliations and various other processes. The role is responsible for the process and performance outcomes of both on & off-shore accounting functions, ensuring the compliance with SLAs, developing, distributing and monitoring KPIs, leading and motivating teams, ensuring continuous improvement of processes, providing excellent customer service to business units (act as first point of contact) and driving effectiveness through a shared service. The Record to Report Director will oversee monthly accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and corporate policies as well as play a key role in implementing process improvements, integrating new systems and businesses into Global Finance Operations. The Record to Report Director will be a key participant in the company-wide Finance transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations performed by both on & offshore teams; provide analytics to key business stakeholders for decision making; execute month end accounting close, review quarterly corporate submissions and reporting; provide support on both statutory and US financial audits and requests from participations and internal operational audits
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of the overall monthly close activities as performed by both the on-shore and off-shore teams
• Develop, coach, and manage staff into mature financial advisors with a customer service orientation toward the dependent BPO and business stakeholders
• Provide excellent customer service to business stakeholders including addressing and resolving queries escalated by both on & offshore teams in a timely manner
• Serve as business partner by maintaining in-depth knowledge of the industry and accounting policies & principles
• Regularly interact with and influence department leader, providing subject matter expertise and proactively diffuse tension and conflict
• Develop and review monthly metrics with BPO and business stakeholders, to improve processes and resolve issues. Proactively identify opportunities to expand scope of services which lead to global efficiency
• Work alongside R2R Global Process Owner to champion process efficiencies, to develop new accounting policies and procedures; align both on & offshore teams & processes to support the strategic goals of the department and the company, and to drive efficiencies in the organization
• Manage the transition of new processes from business units into Global Finance Operations for a successful transition. Identify organizational and/or project needs and make appropriate resource allocations to support business goals
• Collaborate within and across organization on key company-wide initiatives and to support the Finance transformation roadmap (people, process, technology)
• Research US GAAP as it relates to significant matters and provide accounting guidance to ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Oversee all applicable SOX documentation, compliance and provide audit support to both internal and external auditors
• Identify areas of control risk. Assist in designing and recommending mitigating control procedures. Ensure that adequate and effective system of internal controls is maintained for reporting and analysis
• Contribute to the development and achievement of departmental strategic objectives
• Other duties and special projects as needed
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting
• CPA or MBA required
• 10 + years' experience in public or private accounting with experience directly related to key responsibilities preferred
• 5 + years' prior management experience required
• Solid work experience in general ledger accounting, month end close functions including account reconciliations, trial balance reviews, analysis, KPI & metrics
• Prior experience in an outsourced or global shared services environment
• Experience in implementing global processes and systems
• Experience in driving process improvement within a Finance organization
• Successful track record of development/delivery of complex solutions
• Experience with SAP ECC FI or other large ERP systems and subsystems
• Proficiency in a variety of systems including MS office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint and high-level Excel spreadsheets such as familiarity of macros, pivot tables, lookup, IF functions)

• Must have broad knowledge of US GAAP, with strong technical accounting, process and controls background
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail a must
• Experience in leading & delivering system/process improvements and implementing projects within a finance organization
• Flexibility to work overtime or travel, as needed
• International experience preferred (understanding of currencies and FX)
• Entertainment industry experience preferred
