Responsibilities
NBC Sports Chicago is looking for an exceptional, driven writer with experience covering Chicago-area sports across disciplines. Our candidate must be an extremely effective multitasker with top-notch local news judgment, a proven track-record of both breaking news and in-depth writing, incredible attention to detail and the ability to produce engaging content across platforms. This person works equally well solo as in a collaborative, team-focused environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cover Chicago-area sports across platforms for NBC Sports Chicago on web, app, social media and via push alerts, provide some coverage for NBCChicago.com
• Report stories from the digital desk. Candidate must feel comfortable gathering news by making phone calls, verifying content on social media and working with reporters in the field
• Build consistent voice/tone across our platforms to connect with Chicago sports fans
• Produce breaking news content across multiple platforms by collaborating with team members, reporters, news staff and independent sources
• Quickly learn a website's audience and write and distribute content based on this audience
• Use multiple tools to drive content-creation decisions, such as Google Trends and CrowdTangle
• Create multimedia content to enhance daily news coverage
• Enforce editorial style guides, standards and practices

• Identify buzz-worthy stories of the day and engage our audience across platforms
• Develop and maintain content plans and activations in the social content calendar
• Execute and contribute to ideation of social sales content activations
• Collaborate with various parts of the larger NBC Sports Chicago team, including production, talent, audience development and sales on cross-company efforts
• Analyze week-to-week analytics and demonstrate agility to make content changes based on data

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
• At least two (2) years producing content, ideally on digital platforms
• Proven proficiency in Adobe suite products, specifically Photoshop
• Understanding of social media and how to build engagement and referral traffic
• Knowledge of current Chicago sports and how national sports news affects local teams
• Must be a proven skilled writer with outstanding communication skills.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or required

• Must be willing to work in Chicago, IL
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Desired Characteristics
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment, preferably in a fast-paced newsroom and/or production company
• Working knowledge of content management system
• Proven ability to prioritize and make critical programming decisions under tight deadlines
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and editorial personnel
