Responsibilities

The NBC News digital video team seeks to hire an associate producer. This is a wonderful opportunity to work at the core of NBC News' newsgathering operation in a highly collaborative environment, helping to clip and produce short-form videos for NBCNews.com and its digital platforms.

Job Duties
• Collaborate with NBC News producers and editors in 30 Rock and its news bureaus on the acquisition, selection, and publishing of live and on-demand video content
• Build full episodes of NBC News NOW's primetime lineup for on-demand viewing, as well as breaking news and standalone clips.
• Select, edit, and publish images to promote video clips
• Write and edit text to be used on-screen and for headlines and captions
• Tag video content with editorially relevant metadata
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum one year of experience producing, editing video for digital and/or social platforms
• Familiarity with nonlinear editing systems
• Strong knowledge of and interest in national politics, current events and a superior eye for spotting compelling video
• Journalistic writing skills editorial judgment
• Familiarity with AP Style
• Familiarity with content management/online publishing systems
• Basic photo editing skills
• Strong organizational skills and strong work ethic
• Ability to take direction well
• Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Additional Job Requirements
• Must be willing to work in Los Angeles
• Must be willing to work flexible schedule, nights and weekends
• Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples -- if available, include a web address when you submit your resume

Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or other discipline emphasizing storytelling and multimedia creation
• Further background in broadcast news production
• Knowledge of NBC News policies guidelines and practices

This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
