Job Description
NBC News is seeking an agile Associate Producer to contribute to developing a new daily news podcast. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter who can jump into any aspect of production and who is eager to take on new challenges. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience working in a fast-paced news environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring news across platforms, pitching stories, booking guests, and quickly drafting show scripts and segments. The Associate Producer will be expected to edit interviews in Descript and ProTools, or similar digital audio software, and work with the team to develop social media strategy for the podcast.
Job Duties:
• Generate timely and informed pitches and contribute to editorial planning
• Book, communicate with, and pre-interview pertinent guests
• Cut multiple interviews weekly and draft strong editorial copy with speed and accuracy
• Pull sound from NBC internal media system, archive, and other sources
• Gather and assemble tape for the show, including interviewing guests
• Work with team to troubleshoot audio issues and production blockages
• Support distribution of show, including drafting metadata
Qualifications
• At least 3+ years of production experience
• Excellent writing skills
• Strong knowledge of news and current events
• Understanding of journalistic ethics and best practices
• Experience editing audio or video, with weekly or daily show experience preferred
• Understanding of competitive space for daily news podcasts
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects under deadline
• Collaborative attitude and strong communication skills
Additional Requirements:
• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
What we'll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:
• Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months

Salary range: $75,000-$90,000
