Digital Executive Producer

Job Description

NBC4 / WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio, has an opening for a Digital Executive Producer, the second highest-ranking member on the digital news team. The person oversees much of the daily decision-making for digital news coverage, in addition to homepage management, social media strategy and directly supervising a subteam of digital producers that cover breaking, trending and spot news. The ideal candidate would possess strong reporting skills and be capable of regularly turning enterprise content that informs and educates our audience.

We are looking for a successful digital journalist and newsroom leader who will work alongside the Digital Director and in concert with broadcast news managers to continue to raise the bar and inspire the NBC4 digital news team to reach its goals and better serve the community.

Duties, responsibilities and requirements include:
• Five years of digital news experience
• Solid news judgment, particularly in breaking news situations, and strong journalism ethics
• Website management experience, using analytics to drive decisions
• Review and edit content from team members for clarity, factualness and AP style
• Assist in writing up news stories
• Write headlines that connect with search and social audiences
• Familiarity with content management systems, livestreaming, photo editing software, video editing software, and an ability to quickly acclimate in other products used in website and broadcast production
• Comfort with data visualization and other online reporting tools
• Enjoys working in teams and a strong communicator
• Thrives under pressure and able to meet deadlines
• Self-motivated and competitive
• Ability to be fast and first at breaking news on the web
• Regularly meets measurements of success
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
