Social Media Manager – TV & Titles (National Geographic)
National Geographic is seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to oversee strategic and creative social campaigns for Nat Geo title and editorial pages. A successful candidate will be responsible for handling title campaigns from production to launch - with best-in-class creative social stunts, community strategies, as well as creative asset development and delivery. Additionally, they'll have an eye towards editorial and always-on social executions.
We are looking for a passionate digital strategist who has experience managing social marketing campaigns, agency work, internal team relationships and busy timelines. Excelling in this role requires a knowledge of what is trending/current on social, an aptitude for developing insights-driven global strategies, a deep and current knowledge of each platform's offerings, how to best utilize influencers, a keen eye for compelling and innovative content and creative and excellent project management skills. They will work with and on key social media and digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit and Snapchat as well as seek out emerging platforms that can help grow our fan base and brand.
Responsibilities
• Partner closely with the marketing team to create high impact social and conversation driving social Nat Geo title campaigns.
• Support in management and growth on Nat Geo editorial accounts.
• Communicate social strategy, campaign voice, and platform strategy through each title's Marketing Brief.
• Advise on, communicate and implement best social media practices and cultural landscape as it pertains to the title.
• Evolve tactics throughout each campaign as new data emerges.
• Partner with the broader marketing title teams on talent social training, onset social capture, live social media event coverage, digital activations and paid media creative, influencer activations etc.
• Work closely with marketing to create high impact moments around title debuts, announcements, press etc.
• Manage creative development of social content through the pipeline including giving creative direction and notes, along with securing final approvals and sign-off.
• Develop and own goals and performance metrics for the social handles you oversee.
• Monitor regularly to understand effectiveness of strategy and creative, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Foster and build excellent working relationships with talent, filmmakers and showrunners, including educating on social media.
• Partner with social platforms to identify new opportunities and develop innovative activations.
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years of social media marketing experience.
• Experience with and strong knack for presentation.
• Deep understanding of social platforms.
• Creative, proactive, and independent thinking, with a strong solutions-oriented mindset.
• Self-starter with a strong bias for action.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Strong creative writing skills, as well as effective communication skills in both verbal and written form.
• Ability to build and manage interpersonal relationships.
• Extreme attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Keynote, PowerPoint and Google Suite.
• Proficiency with project management tools, such as Airtable, Asana, etc.
• Experience leading creative content development and production.
• Experience with social media content management and reporting systems.
• Experience managing large budgets.
The hiring range for this position in Washington DC is $91,900 to $126,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
