Digital Editor, SEO (Nat Geo)

We are looking for a ''lightening rod'' editor who knows how to commission and optimize content for maximum discoverability in Search. This Digital Editor plays a vital role in developing assignments and editing stories for National Geographic's global audiences while using the latest keyword research, tools, and SEO best practices to elevate the beloved brand. They will provide ongoing feedback that boosts Search opportunities across digital teams, and their guidance will have direct impact on our success and how we remain competitive in the ever-changing SEO landscape.

Responsibilities:
• Make regular updates to existing digital content with the goal of improving on-page SEO and increasing search traffic, page rank, etc.
• Create strategy against KPIs identified by Editorial leadership.
• Run reports, monitor, and react to SEO issues as they arise.
• Conduct ongoing keyword research and provide feedback and suggestions for new content opportunities that match both editorial and ecommerce content production pipelines and targets.
• SEO QA newly published digital content.
• Provide guidance and feedback related to revolving SEO best practices to digital content staff.
• Monitor industry landscape plus other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Dependability and positive attitude
• Professional writing and editing skills
• Proficiency in Semrush, Google Trends, and and/or comparable tools and analytics experience required
• Must be able to work onsite 4 days per week

Preferred Education:
• Bachelor's degree in related field
