Overview

The Vice President - Finance and Accounting will oversee all major functions of the Accounting and Finance Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, reporting, tax, sales tax and revenue recognition. The Vice President will implement and improve internal controls through flowchart and process reviews of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. The Vice President will oversee the books and records of the Club's non-profit arm (Brewers Community Foundation Inc.), and the Club's other outside investments.

Strategy and Analysis:
• Partner with senior management to research and analyze the financial implications (e.g. ROI, valuation, etc.) of all potential business opportunities
• Coordinate with senior management on the long-range strategic planning initiative for the team, assess the financial requirements implicit in those plans, evaluate the potential ROI and develop alternative ways to satisfy those financial requirements
• Spearhead, investigate and prepare projection models to help the team identify opportunities to improve financial performance
• Lead and direct accounting operation to generate maximum efficiency and productivity by identifying and utilizing meaningful metrics, establishing clear goals and directing continuous review of policies and procedures
• Maintain historical financials and analysis for key financial indicators, trends and benchmarks
• Perform ad hoc analysis, as necessary

Procedure, Systems and Reporting:
• Manage the annual budget process, projections, and cash flow analysis for all entities
• Manage League and Team Debt Facilities, ensuring compliance with all covenants and MLB requirements
• Manage the annual audits for Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club LP and Brewers Community Foundation Inc.
• Ensure compliance with MLB league reporting requirements and oversee the annual Revenue Sharing Audit
• Manage the annual income tax preparation process for Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club LP and Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Inc.---working with local firm and MLB tax advisors to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local tax laws.
• Ensure compliance with Dominican Republic tax law, oversee the annual tax filing process and payroll compliance, and file the annual International Compliance Disclosure Survey with MLB
• Manage the annual Form 990 submission for Brewers Community Foundation Inc.
• Oversee the treasury management function of each entity, administer all bank accounts, set up new users, and approve wire transfers
• Lead person on financial settlements for all non-baseball events held at American Family Field.
• Inventory management for general purchases made by the entities as well as inventory relating to the retail operations at American Family Field
• Perform ad hoc audit oversight (IRS, sales and use tax, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct reports include the Director – Accounting, Director – Disbursements, and the Manager – Workday Systems. Indirect reports include the Accounting/Finance Department (11 full-time employees, 1 part-time employee, and interns).

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, in Business/Finance/Accounting or substantially equivalent experience; CPA preferred
• Minimum eight to ten years related experience; strong reporting and financial statement analysis background
• Experience with treasury/debt management, including merchant processing.
• Income, sales/use, payroll tax compliance and an understanding of business/contract law
• Experience working with Ticket Systems for reporting and analytics preferred, but not required
• Strong leader and a strategic, analytical thinker with a proactive management style
• Detail oriented and organized with the ability to multi-task at a high level
• Excellent communication skills; ability to translate highly technical data to all varying audiences throughout the organization
• Familiarity with Workday or equivalent system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook

Work Hours

Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours may be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays. Some travel will be required to attend various MLB meetings and conferences.
