Amazon MGM Studios, the production and development arm of Amazon, creates content exclusively for Prime Video customers globally. We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Visual Effects Executive to join our team in Tokyo and drive the ambitious slate of International Originals across the APAC region. This key role will oversee projects from development through delivery, managing VFX budgets, schedules, planning, and production partners. The role also involves close collaboration with internal teams including Production, Post-Production, Business Affairs, Creative, and Development, as well as APAC's leading VFX studios and production talent.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in VFX, combining skills as a proven VFX Producer, VFX Executive, and VFX Supervisor, with a comprehensive understanding of the APAC scripted TV and film landscape. We're looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and well-established industry relationships.

This Tokyo-based position requires a dynamic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual who can juggle multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will oversee numerous projects in various stages of development, production, and post-production, while engaging frequently with industry professionals. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of APAC content on a global streaming platform.

Key job responsibilities
- Manage VFX needs across APAC region for a diverse slate of programming, reporting to the Head of VFX, International, in line with Amazon MGM's International Originals priorities
- Lead greenlight process support for VFX through collaboration with production, creative, post, business affairs, and finance teams
- Develop internal VFX assessments and breakdowns from creative materials, scripts, storyboards, and pre-vis
- Support Production Companies in planning for VFX by providing guidance on methodology, breakdowns, budgets, schedules.
- Build and maintain relationships with APAC's leading VFX vendors and talent, supporting key negotiations and partnerships
- Oversee vendor selection, bid evaluation, and work allocation processes
- Support VFX team recruitment, including VFX supervisors and producers
- VFX Budget, schedules, deliverables and status reporting with production companies, review and approval
- Review VFX deliverables to ensure bar raising quality standards are met
- Identify and resolve production challenges while maintaining creative integrity and keeping to budget
- Coordinate with internal teams for marketing, promotional, and publicity needs
- Establish efficient workflow processes between creative, production, and post-production departments
- Act as VFX Producer for development projects when required
- Act as key partner to Amazon MGM cross-functional departments, demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills
- High-level problem-solving by implementing new and emerging technologies for the region in conjunction with the IO VFX team, driving innovation within the production process to scale and create operational efficiencies.
- Model Amazon's culture and values, serving as an ambassador for the VFX team and wider business
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key industry talent and partners across the APAC region

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in VFX production management roles within a production company or vfx vendor environment
- VFX expertise with a solid understanding of the VFX production process from script breakdown to final delivery
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of managing schedules and budgets, problem-solving production challenges, and delivering creative solutions while upholding quality standards
- Outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Fluent in Japanese and proficient in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Established network and knowledge of APAC VFX vendors, particularly in major hubs such as Japan, South Korea, China, Southeast Asia, and Australia
- Familiarity with VFX trends and emerging technology, particularly in the APAC market, with the ability to assess impact on creative, budget, and schedule
- Strong eye for quality control, with the ability to evaluate VFX work against both creative and technical standards
- In-depth knowledge of APAC regional VFX tax incentives and how they impact production budgets
- Experience with global SVOD delivery workflows and understanding of Asian content distribution requirements
- Knowledge of Japanese entertainment industry standards and business practices
- Proven experience in digital media workflows and post-production processes across various formats
- Experience working with production entities in key APAC territories, understanding regional requirements and standards
- Understanding of both Japanese and global audience preferences
