Your role?
The VFX Trainer is responsible for the design, development, and instruction of training courses for new and current employees in all global studios, with a focus on ILM's Sydney studios.
What will you be doing?
Manage all Studio Talent Group programs within the Sydney studio.
Deliver virtual technical training courses to ILM employees around the globe.
Create, evaluate and maintain technical documentation using Confluence.
Carry out shotwork in your assigned production for an average of 50% of your time
Manage Jedi Academy efforts through developing curriculum and documentation for entry-level talent, e.g. apprentices, graduates, interns, etc.
Partner with studio leaders to understand technical training requirements.
Work closely with the Training Coordinator to schedule and set up training.
Customize new starter technical training to meet the needs and goals of each trainee's assigned production.
Evaluate and report on trainee progress to the Director of Talent Development, and appropriate department managers and production supervisors.
Partner closely with the Talent Management to manage gaps in technical ability
To lead this team, you will have a mix of these skills:
You are informed on the latest thinking on training and development methods and techniques.
You are skilled at fostering relationships across time-zones, providing global partners with an excellent level of service.
If needed, you can step in and carry out shotwork as required by productions.
You are experienced with industry-standard 2D and/or 3D software packages (Maya, Katana, Nuke, Houdini, Photoshop) or proprietary equivalent.
You are familiar with the G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive).
You have knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, Python, and C/C++ (desirable).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer visualization, or computer animation or a related technical field.
At least 8 years production experience in visual effects for film, commercials or television.
