Industrial Light & Magic is looking for a Lighting Supervisor to join our extraordinary team! The Lighting Supervisor works as a hands-on collaborator with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, department supervisors and leads to ensure that all delivered shots maintain the group's exceptional standards. With minimal direction and mentorship from their supervisors, their primary task is to support their leads, artists, and Production to produce outstanding lighting for complex shots in industry leading, photo-realistic visual effects films and feature animations.

What You'll Do
Provide highly detailed creative and technical feedback and support to leads and artists
Design and create sophisticated lighting setups and rigs while ensuring they are easy to use
Establish the look of the lighting and technical approach for shows with large amounts of complex creatures, assets and sets
Stay on top of pipeline iterations and improvements, make recommendations, and set priorities for show Pipeline TDs
Learn new techniques quickly, develop show specific tools and solve complicated technical or visual problems
Set a standard for all Technical Directors by continually improving the speed, quality of our work and adaptability
Work with Production and leads to set shot assignments, technical and creative tasks, identify key shots and groups and priorities for your team
Stay on schedule, maintaining the highest standards for quality of work, while ensuring consistent communication with Production and the Lighting team
Mentor Lighting and Look Development leads and artists
What We're Looking For
8+ years production experience or feature film experience with lighting work
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, computer graphics or other relevant field; or equivalent experience
Demo reel required
Ability to work with competency, energy and enthusiasm within a team environment with minimal supervision
Exhibits excellent listening and interpersonal skills, able to receive direction and criticism
Excellent presentation skills in dailies/shot review by clearly and concisely outlining what has been accomplished by their crew
Engage in the creative process without ego and accepts all final decisions with a positive and supportive attitude
Demonstrates an extraordinarily refined aesthetic eye, anticipating potential problems and using knowledge of how to use the tools to achieve the desired look
Knowledge of USD pipelines with the ability to understand, debug and provide feedback on data coming from other departments into the lighting scene
Exhibits a very high degree of knowledge for troubleshooting render noise, artifacts and other pipeline issues
Demonstrates superb problem-solving skills and takes the initiative to offer ideas and suggestions
Prioritizes tasks and handles time very well
Linux knowledge and scripting ability in Python and/or Lua preferred
Consistent track record to pick up new software and proprietary pipelines
Katana knowledge and Nuke compositing ability
The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$137,300 to C$175,800 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
