Director, Worldwide Publicity, Motion Picture Group (MPG) Communications

Summary of Position

The Director, Worldwide Publicity, MPG Comms will report to the head of Worldwide Publicity, and work alongside SVP, Worldwide Publicity, VP, Worldwide Publicity and agency partners in developing, managing and directing trade media relations, internal and external executive communications and film-specific news while collaborating with senior executives and internal teams in support of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group. This role involves managing trade and business media relations and collaborating closely with executives and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
• Serve as point person to direct, manage, organize, and message critical communications including but not limited to: press releases, Lionsgate MPG trade press coverage, executive trade coverage and talks, industry news and competitive analyses

• Work closely with MPG Comms agency partners to develop and maintain relationships with key trade and entertainment press, respond to inquiries, and manage/support approval processes with executives and filmmakers

• Work swiftly to keep Head of Worldwide Publicity, Chief Communications Officer and Corporate Communications team up to speed on timely and relevant updates with film-specific news, releases and MPG initiatives

• Work closely with Head of Worldwide Publicity, Corporate Communications and MPG Comms agency partners on day-to-day inquiries from trade reporters regarding studio projects, box office reports, and transactional announcements

• Work closely with Head of Worldwide Publicity, Corporate Communications and MPG Comms agency partners to develop and continuously refine the motion picture group narrative framework that aligns film, corporate, and executive messaging

• Work closely with Head of Worldwide Publicity, Corporate Communications and MPG Comms agency on issues-based and crisis PR preparedness as needed

• Serve as point-person alongside MPG Comms agency partners in the oversight, organization and management of high volume of press releases; support in the writing, reviewing, editing and approval process of press releases across MPG theatrical slate and specialty releases

• Establish and oversee expected comms processes across marketing and distribution groups; support in theatrical release date comms process

• Constant and thorough scanning of trade press breaks and industry news; manage timely communication and circulating of film news breaks with internal executives and stakeholders

• Set and manage subscriptions of emerging Substacks and paywalled entertainment industry publications; circulate stories regularly

• Work with senior MPG leadership to ensure company goals and accomplishments are reflected in key messaging and announcements

• Track media coverage, follow industry trends and share competitive entertainment industry news with internal executives and stakeholders

• Track executive speaking opportunities and special issues inclusions

• Support in the writing and approval process for announcements for Lionsgate's Global Product & Experiences initiatives

• Support in drafting press materials such as fact sheets, talking points and memos

• Collaborate with internal teams to identify marketable stories and opportunities for executive speaking engagements

• Work closely with Head of Worldwide Publicity and VP of Events to ensure clear communication for motion picture executives on major studio events such as premieres, conventions and industry events

• Manage communications for corporate events, town halls, film premieres, and industry events like CinemaCon

• Proactively seek opportunities to highlight key executives and studio initiatives

• Staff events and manage executives at red carpet events, premieres, and awards ceremonies

• Travel as needed and support Worldwide Publicity events

Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a marketing and/or publicity capacity

• Bachelor's degree in communications or related degree

• Highly organized and detail oriented with interest and enthusiasm about film industry

• Superior communication skills (written and verbal)

• Willingness to work overtime and be flexible with hours

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management

• Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deal with deadline pressure

• Strong work ethic

Compensation

$125,000 - $135,000
