Director, Scripted Development (Canada)

Summary of Position

eOne Canada's Television department is seeking a Director, Scripted Development who will be responsible for the sourcing and development of original television series. Working in a team the successful candidate will collaborate on and lead all aspects of development across creative projects.

Responsibilities
• Form strategic relationships with writers, directors, agents, producers and buyers

• Keep abreast of industry news and intelligence to inform slate strategy

• Identify and cultivate new and existing talent

• Source original IP in all its forms for television – drama and comedy

• Assess incoming pitches and projects to determine market viability

• Build and facilitate design of pitch materials into market ready packages

• Participate in pitches to buyers

• Work with creators and talent to develop original returning and limited series; providing creative feedback on all development steps and managing creator relationships

• Manage sold projects as key point of contact with platform executives

• Collaborate with Scripted Programming team to devise and execute overall scripted strategy

Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in scripted programming at a network, studio or production company

• Excellent communication, strategic, presentation, creative and storytelling skills

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects under time constraints

• Must possess strong relationships with industry stakeholders

• Producing experience an asset

• Extensive knowledge of television landscape, trends and cultural conversations

• Proficient in MS applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word; working knowledge of Airtable and graphic design an asset
