Job Description
KXAN (NBC) in Austin, TX is hiring an experienced FT meteorologist to be part of a top-rated, highly collaborative weather team. Live in one of the fastest-growing and most desired markets, with dynamic weather conditions from flash flooding and tornadoes to ice storms.
Duties include producing and presenting weather forecasts and assisting with live traffic reports for newscasts, as well as creating weather content on digital and social media platforms daily. Additional reporting assignments will focus on topics related to meteorology and other sciences, environmental issues, etc. In addition to strong meteorology skills, candidates must demonstrate news judgment and ability to cultivate story ideas related to your expertise.
Must submit a video link reflecting compelling presentation of the day's weather story, dynamic live shots and strong interaction with anchors, and must have a track record of effective social media engagement.
Requirements & Skills:
Meteorology degree and 3 years' television experience with Max or similar weather software required. Reporting experience preferred.
