Job Description
KTLA is looking for an Executive Producer to oversee weekend evening newscasts. Our loyal fan base loves KTLA's unique combination of hard news, entertainment, community events and personality. We need a strong, creative and personable Executive Producer who will collaborate with a group of talented anchors, reporters, producers, photojournalists, writers, assignment editors and other Broadcast and Digital managers to deliver on our promise to the audience to be LA's Very Own. The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment, be driven to lead the market in news coverage, possess excellent journalism and management skills.
Responsibilities:
Lead a team of on-air talent, line producers, writers
Define and execute strategic direction for news and content coverage in coordination with the News Director, Assistant News Director and other Executive Producers
Contribute to the editorial process and make solid decisions during breaking news
Edit scripts to uphold high journalism standards
Fill in produce and write when necessary
Produce special projects, content initiatives, and fill in produce/write when necessary
Give regular constructive feedback to direct reports; write and deliver annual performance reviews
Create and maintain a positive work culture
Requirements & Skills:
At least seven years' experience in television or radio broadcast/production; previous news management experience is preferred
Must be able to interact well with other news managers, anchors, producers, reporters, photographers, assignment desk editors, production and engineering staff
Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity, knowledge of applicable laws
Demonstrated creative abilities to produce memorable live television
Ability to work other shifts; assist in producing or writing for other weekday/weekend newscasts and/or oversee special programming as needed
Line produce newscasts in a pinch; the ability to edit video; skilled at ENPS and able to build rundowns for regular newscasts as well as breaking news and special programming
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications or the equivalent experience
Compensation - $120,000+ commensurate with skills and experience
