Job Summary/Description:
KTIV is seeking a professional broadcast and facilities engineer. The successful candidate will provide technical support for equipment and staff in a broadcast and streaming environment. A background in IT is preferred, and applicants should also have either experience or a genuine interest in learning RF and other broadcast-specific skills. This position will require performing quality control measurements to ensure proper video and audio quality is maintained for all broadcasts, assisting in field productions and addressing team needs as they arise. This person will also be responsible for basic facilities maintenance such minor carpentry, minor plumbing, and general building maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are limited to):
Performs regular maintenance tasks including repairs, equipment replacement, supplies, etc.
• Ensures all transmission equipment is operating correctly before and during live event coverage - corrects and documents technical problems and reports them to the managers
• Maintains building needs.
• Manage the maintenance and repair of all company facilities associated with our station. This includes HVAC, generators, security systems, satellite dishes, electrical, hardware, etc.
* Performs troubleshooting of hardware and software problems on all Broadcast equipment. Repairs component or board level as appropriate
* Performs preventive maintenance as appropriate on station facilities and equipment
Qualifications/Requirements:
Candidates Must be able to think on their feet, work well with others, be a self-starter, and be a team player focused on quickly and efficiently assisting staff with technical issues.
• Basic electronics and electrical skills
• A working knowledge of Windows networking and proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications
• The ability to use basic hand tools to perform minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing repairs
• Basic understanding of day-to-day facilities maintenance
• Associate's degree in IT, electronic technology, or related work experience
• In addition, the candidate should have a curious mind and be willing to seek further knowledge of the skills required to be a successful, productive broadcast engineer
• A clean driving record is also required
• This position will require occasional work on step and extension ladders, and lifting up to 75 pounds
