Job Summary/Description:
If you're a reporter looking for your first anchor role, this might be the position for you. KSLA NEWS 12 is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic journalist to anchor our weekend newscasts and tell the stories of our community. The successful candidate should have solid editorial judgment and excel in breaking news situations. We want journalists who search for stories and seek answers for our audience. Applicants should have at least two years of multi-platform reporting experience. Producing a skill set is a plus.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited, to):
• Anchor-assigned newscasts
• Assist producer in building shows
• Strong journalistic ethics, news judgment, and decision-making
• Effective communicator with viewers and staff
• Develop sources and present and turn story ideas that resonate with our research and audience
• Shoot, write, and edit compelling coverage for all platforms
• Use digital and social media to find, develop, tell stories, and engage with our audience
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments
Qualifications/Requirements:
• At least 2 years of multi-platform reporting, shooting, and editing experience is preferred.
• A college degree in journalism or equivalent is required.
