KSBY, the Scripps NBC station in San Luis Obispo, CA is hiring a Director of Engineering (DOE)! The DOE leads a team that provides world-class customer service to all business partners, both internal and external, with a positive ''can-do'' attitude. You'll manage the design, specifications, documentation, maintenance, and installation of technical systems and workflows for the designated station(s) while maintaining a thorough understanding of technology, facilities, and operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Model and lead a culture of empathy, customer service, and leadership.
• Lead the research, design, installation, and repair of all television, digital, OTT, Internet Systems, high-power RF systems, production environments, and all associated equipment using current platforms and protocols. Manage building facilities and grounds, including HVAC, power generation, and security systems.
• Partner with the news department to develop, build, and support content workflow and support systems including integration and problem-solving software, hardware, networking,g and infrastructure while facilitating a collaborative environment between newsroom and production control staff.
• Motivate and manage a staff of professional and technical engineers, operators, and IT technicians. Develop and grow staff in technology and Scripps culture to meet the ongoing and future technological needs of the station and evaluate staff growth opportunities and assessments.
• Establish and implement engineering policies and procedures.
• Evaluate and maintain the facility's spectrum and broadband usage.
• Manage projects.
• Plan, design, and document current and future broadcast and digital systems.
• Collaborate with other departments to determine current and future studio and transmission and workflow needs.
• Prepare and track capital, expense, repair, and maintenance budgets.
• Use the company purchasing management system to purchase and track assets and services as well as replacement cycles.
• Evaluate equipment solutions.
• Keep the station compliant with the FCC Rules and Regulations, as well as related local, state, and federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
• Generally, 10+ years of experience in a related field preferred
• Prior managerial experience preferred
• Network, SBE, and/or Project Management certification preferred

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits.
COMPENSATION RANGE:
Annual Salary: $87,000.00 - 110000
Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in California.
