KPTV is a Fox-affiliated television station licensed to Portland, Oregon. Owned by Atlanta-based Gray Television, it is part of a duopoly with Vancouver, Washington-licensed MyNetworkTV affiliate KPDX.
Job Summary/Description:
The Anchor/Reporter presents the news to viewers of KPTV's newscasts. The position researches, develops, and covers news reports in the field which are informative, interesting, and compelling while remaining consistent with the Station's brand and editorial philosophy. The current opening is for a Weekend Anchor/Reporter.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Delivers the news and introduces content from local news reporters, sports, and weather, as well as external sources in accordance with the program rundown
- Delivers unscripted breaking news coverage and special event coverage to the community at large
- Receives news assignments or evaluates leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
- Covers news in the field
- Collaborates with producers and management in the development of broadcast content such as newscasts, promotions, and teases
- Posts stories to KPTV website and social media
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Journalism or Communications preferred
- 3-5 years in a Reporter or Anchor role at a TV station
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring strict deadlines and a focus on team orientation
- Skilled communicator, capable of speaking to a diverse audience and conveying messages effectively. Strong written communications. Creative, with the ability to provide original concepts, ideas & solutions. Strong listening skills for interviews
