NEWS ANCHOR (EVENING) - KOTA/KEVN

About KOTA/KEVN:

KOTA and KEVN are the ABC and FOX affiliates in Rapid City at the base of the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. KOTA and KEVN and the market leaders for local news, sports and weather with a state-of-the-art facility. KOTA and KEVN feature separate brands. Both stations cover the Black Hills area of South Dakota as well as parts of eastern Wyoming. Our teams produce six daily newscasts and six weekend newscasts.

KOTA & KEVN are located in Rapid City, SD television DMA Market 169, a community of approximately 100,000 television HH.

Job Summary/Description:

KOTA & KEVN are looking for an experienced journalist with a proven track record of leadership and community involvement to join our team as an evening newscast anchor.

As the region's most trusted source for news, we pride ourselves on leadership both through our product and in our community. Our anchors are leaders in the newsroom, lending a hand to other journalists while developing multiplatform content of their own. Their leadership extends outside of work, too, where they are expected to embrace the people and culture of the Black Hills, becoming involved in local organizations and nonprofits.

The ideal candidate thrives when working with a team, exhibits strong editorial judgment and is willing to do what it takes to get the best story. Anchors are expected to contribute to the editorial process each day, regularly create compelling enterprise content, develop story ideas and sources, and work with producers to generate innovative newscasts that take intentional, creative risks.

Please note, the primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the information listed above.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- 4-6 years of anchor/reporting experience
- Degree in broadcast journalism or related field
- Strong, demonstrated news judgment
- Superior writing and copy editing skills
- Proficiency in story creation and newscast production
- Working knowledge of AP ENPS, EDIUS, and BitCentral systems
• Candidates should also exhibit a good work ethic, strong people skills, and must maintain a professional attitude at all times. This position requires availability to work all shifts and may require holiday work.
