Job Description
The Concept Artist works directly with the Marketing team to create high-quality marketing assets and define the style for campaign communications from conception to production. The ideal candidate is a versatile artist, comfortable with manipulating already-created game engine assets to create polished compositions and works well in a cutting-edge environment that is constantly evolving.Qualified applicants from all levels of experience will be considered for this role.
What You'll Do
Partner with the Marketing team to create a wide range of marketing assets: key art, posters, logos, character art, social media posts, web and event graphics, etc. from layout to final delivery
Gather and review needed reference material to add important details and build believability in your concepts
Distil marketing goals into multiple concepts for review to rapidly explore different designs
Compose for the purpose of marketing tasks and brand campaigns. Use 3D art for posing, lighting, and rendering models.
Pull in-engine 3D assets from Unreal Engine to create stylized and photoreal art assets
Explore color palettes and lighting schemes through quick studies to build readable and believable space
Communicate effectively while working directly with artists and marketing team to create high-end deliverables
Core focus on bringing characters to life with opportunities to work on creatures, environments, architecture, vehicles, weapons, props and FX based on the project requirements
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you have at least 2 or more years experience with a portfolio showing past concept art pieces created for entertainment experiences
Push work to the high-quality aesthetic of an award-winning entertainment studio
Self-organised, with the ability to work on multiple requests at the same time and comfortable with an iterative design process including several rounds of feedback
Creative problem solver, able to translate written and verbal feedback effectively into artwork
Takes initiative to work through the unknown to identify solutions
Experience with 3D software (such as ZBrush, Blender, Maya, or Modo) to quickly and accurately rough out character/environment layouts and compositions
Traditional illustration skills in multiple media and excellent drawing skills
Experience with 2D software for paintovers and polish work eg. - Photoshop or equivalent
Experience with Unreal Engine is a big plus, but not required
The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $90,400 to $113,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
