Job Description
VERANDA is seeking a Social Media Editor with strong writing skills, a talent for audience growth, and a fresh outlook on how to leverage social platforms to push the brand forward. This role will manage output on social media, from scheduling to strategy. The ideal candidate has a knack and passion for creating engaging media posts and videos that drive traffic, engagement, and affiliate revenue. Essential skills for this position are creativity, nimbleness, attention to detail, and drive. Must have experience running platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Pinterest for a large media brand. This position will report to the deputy editor.Resonsibilities:
• Develop and execute an innovative, cross-platform strategy to grow social audience with a focus on social-first video storytelling for Instagram and TikTok
• Manage the social calendar and craft compelling promotional plans around editorial initiatives and launches
• Write and edit posts to social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest
• Monitor content performance on all social platforms, reporting relevant insights to the larger team and shaping strategy on a regular basis
• Monitor design community and news trends; generate ideas for social content
• Work across teams (art, edit, style, ecommerce, and video) to ideate and produce engaging social-first initiatives
• Identify emerging social platforms of note and manage output on those
• Liaise with sales and branded content teams for sponsored posts
Qualifications:
• 4 to 5 years of experience strategizing and overseeing social media for a consumer editorial media outlet or other relevant national brand
• Strong editorial judgment and a clear, creative, and voice-y writing style and a keen eye for visual storytelling
• Savvy strategist who knows how to utilize social platforms (including TikTok and emerging platforms) and tools (Social Flow, Google Analytics, Parse.ly, CrowdTangle, Dash Hudson) to manage performance and engagement and inform content
• Organized and enthusiastic with a knack for spotting and trying the newest social trends
• Team player who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments; video experience is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or other relevant area
The base salary for this role is between $62,310-$65,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This position is based in the office a minimum of 3 days a week.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
