Job Description

About ELLE.com

ELLE is the world's largest fashion magazine and media brand inspiring women to explore and celebrate style in all aspects of their lives with content that is inclusive and innovative. ELLE.com is produced by a team of editors who are passionate about fashion, beauty, news, culture, and how it all fits into the life of the modern woman. We're looking for a savvy, quick-thinking Fashion News Editor to help shape our fashion coverage on the site, on social, and in video.

The Fashion News Editor should be someone who can think big-picture about how to continually innovate our style coverage, but who can also roll up their sleeves with the details. We're looking for someone who's smart and strategic about performative content, who has an eye for market, who's thoughtful about how fashion intersects with culture and pop culture, who can conceptualize and coordinate shoots when needed, and who has an interest in the fashion industry at large-not only trends and products, but designers, fashion weeks, and industry news.

NOTE: For us to consider you, please submit your resume in PDF format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to your portfolio.

What you'll do
• Ideate, write, and edit fashion coverage for ELLE.com, including fashion weeks and awards season
• Write/edit two to three stories each day, working closely with photo researchers and designers to create great art to accompany them
• Pitch and execute compelling ideas, making sure to maintain a mix of market, trends, news, essays, and features
• Work closely with the SEO team on ideas, optimization, and promotion
• Monitor analytics to understand what works and why, and gear coverage towards it
• Attend market appointments and events, and cover them on social
• Pitch video series and one-off ideas; bonus points if you're comfortable being on-camera

Who you are
• You have at least three years of experience writing and producing content for digital media, ideally in the women's fashion and lifestyle space
• Ability to write fast, fun, clean copy
• Experience working in fashion-and interest in how that intersects with pop culture, beauty, and women's issues
• Familiarity with social media, as well as programs like CrowdTangle and Dash Hudson
• Must have a great attitude and be invested in the site's overall success
• You have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
